ALS Awareness Day in Beach Haven, NJ

On August 11th, Mayor Deb Whitcraft of Beach Haven, set the example for all towns and cities, by proclaiming, that day as ALS Awareness Day in the Boro of Beach Haven. That event triggered an onslaught of postive press on my behalf. The articles are available below for your reading. Due the fact that my email address, as well as the address of this website were published in the local papers, I began to receive many emails. News of the article, and the article itself, were mailed to many people with ALS, as far south as Homestead, Florida, and as west as Cleveland, Ohio. I am pleased to report on now consul people with ALS, on how to obtain their Social Security, Disability Benefits. That is nothing short of amazing.

Fall campaign to support new legislation

I am currently in the mist of writing Congress again to support legislation to increase the funding appropreated for research for all diseases. I am asking Congress to increase the budget allocated to the National Institute of Health which designates grant monies for research. Anyone that wants to help me stuff 538 envelopes, please email me. The target date set for this project is set for October the 15th.

Show your support for Beach Wheels

I now am pleased to announce that I fully support the efforts of Beach Wheels. Beach Wheels is an excellent organization solely devoted to allowing handicapped persons access to the beach, and ocean via specially designed wheelchairs. Since being confined to a wheelchair myself, I am slowly becoming aware of the lack of facilities as well as options available to the handicapped. Richard West does a more than admirable job of insuring that handicapped individuals visiting Long Beach Island, NJ, have access to the beach.

Fight to improve conditions for the handicapped at the Tweeter Center,Camden, NJ

This summer I have attended over 24 concerts and sporting events, as a disabled man, in my wheelchair. Having attended many venues in my condition, I was apalled at the lack of facilities for the handicapped, at the Tweeter Center at the Waterfront in Camden. Not only is the outdoor venue, the worst facility to see a show in a wheelchair, it is outright dangerious. Please view my letter writing campaign against the Tweeter Center and the City of Camden under the "access" section of this website. Links are provided to email the city of Camden in the hopes that you will aid my fight in changing the conditions for all disabled individuals at this venue. Guidelines for attending shows while disableld will also soon be posted.
